The tiniest span of time can ease our day or add considerably more hours of any number of things we didn’t expect.

The easy stuff opens us to positive possibilities and often puts a spring in our step. But when we’re thrown off in a direction we hadn’t intended, it can add chaos and put our attitude in the dumpster.

This is when we can count on the present moment, your now. “It’s all in how you look at it.” We’ve heard this and used it countless times.

Play with it.
The present moment is ripe with possibilities. You choose. We can wallow in our troubles or drop into a better feeling. I know from experience that this isn’t easy and can take some practice. I have two questions for myself, my family, and my clients: "Does it feel good and does it serve you?"

If the answer is no (and it usually is when we are sad, angry and/or terrified), then there is always an option to bring in a better thought, a better now. It may not stop the discord right away but it sure feels better to rearrange the image, to accessorize the moment with humor, stillness, faith, breath or whatever devices we can muster at the time.

We might have to dig deep to see some light...
so surprise yourself and dig away.
Here’s a To Do ~ Breathe! Stop now and give yourself a moment to take a deep, cleansing breath. Even when we don’t think we have it in us, we can turn a situation around by remembering that this small bit of breath is a life line, a direct connection to your higher self. I know that sometimes it is difficult to find that breath when we are in a state of panic but find it we can when we try. Just try. As you do you will see each breath get stronger and longer.

It’s kind of like the adult version of a “time out.” We can stay in our muddy, angry, unhappy feelings or choose to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Admittedly we might have to dig deep to see some light–so surprise yourself and dig away. You might just discover it really does feel better to use your life line once in a while.

Here’s a To Do ~ Imagine a majestic light washing over your entire body. Let it enter the top of your head and move through your body and see it anchor your feet into the earth as it exits. Honor yourself as you do this powerful ritual and be reminded that you have come into this life to experience great love and joy above all else.

We can call in our allies, this beautiful, divine energy that is always present and bathe ourselves in its reassuring light. Start trusting that your vibrational, energy self is always working properly. God, the angels, the ascended masters, even a beloved family member or friend from the past is just a breath away.

Start trusting that your vibrational energy self
is ALWAYS working properly.
Here’s a To Do ~ Call in the angels! Just ask, put it out there, either by your thoughts, on paper or verbally. They will come when called and know that they are available to hear your desires.

Each moment can be an oasis. A space of time to let go, breathe, and tell yourself that all of this is just another part of your journey, your package. We have that small space of time to make the package into a gift of grandness.

Here’s a To Do ~ Let go of your past. While part of your story is there, it doesn’t have to rule your life anymore. It’s over; even it was just a moment ago. Now sit and visualize the perfect future. Be as elaborate as you like! Your imagination is a spectacular fountain flowing beautiful experiences your way. If it detours to something sad or unhealthy, gently ease it back to a beautiful feeling.

By stepping into the moment we are in at any given time, we begin to see the possibilities or notice things that we might have missed otherwise. Chance encounters, people we run into, signs and messages seem to randomly get our attention.

I love to watch others as they discover that this is all we ever have–this moment. It’s almost as if the past never was and the future never comes. This is it. It’s all you’ve got. It is your everything. Here you are, right here, right now. How do you want it to feel? You choose.

Blessings,
Rebecca Smith Hill

Facebook: Rebecca Smith Hill Pathways
Twitter: Becky Smith Hill

What are you anticipating this moment, this day, this week, for now and for the future?

Lately I’ve been having a positive, anticipatory feeling wash over me. This funny, happy, goose-bumpy sensation feels incredibly supportive and healing. It seems to encourage me to stay upbeat during some crazy and rather intense personal moments that I am experiencing right now.

I can tell you exactly where I am getting this sensation: right smack in my abdomen--the good old butterflies in the stomach! The feeling comes from two of my main chakra energy centers, the second chakra in the lower abdomen and seat of our creative energy, and the third chakra, the solar plexus region, an area where we honor ourselves and also the area which keeps us true to our course.

The flip side...

As I sit here writing about this wonderful, expectant feeling I have in the midst of a whole lot of personal chaos, I see the flip side. It is quite fascinating to study our energy centers and watch what happens when one or more of them are not vibrationally up to par. Any physical or emotional concern will appear in our energy field first, before manifesting physically as something we recognize as illness or emotional pain. Paying attention to hunches and gut feelings helps us understand ourselves and this energetic stage we perform on every day.

Watch how and what you put out in thought and vibration.

I started to notice how many of the postings on Facebook are anticipatory. I usually respond silently, but emotionally, to these postings. They made me think about all the things in life we anticipate...how we look at our lives, and how often our glass is half empty or half full. Just look at some of the expressions we use:

Doom and gloom, a pain in the neck, it’s not a pretty picture, it makes me sick, we’re going to fight this, look what the world is coming to, what are they going to do about this…

These are just a few examples. I bet you can come up with many more! Of course, I will allow others their feelings and continue to enjoy Facebook for the varied tapestry of expression it lends. It is not for me to interfere with the free will of others; however, it is my wish that as you read this, you will begin to see how simple words can shape our future, and how negativity and conflict bring more of the same.

The acceptance of these differences in others--finding them interesting rather than conflicting--and the awareness of our sameness are the keys to healing our world. I am grateful to see so many now leading the way with peace and understanding instead of division. It would be wise to practice what children insitinctively know: anticipate joy and live in wonder!

Our thoughts are valuable, and contain divine vibration. What is it you anticipate?

My happy feeling means I am in a place of acceptance for the work I am doing, in the way it makes me feel and in the hope I can offer to others. Remember the second and third chakra and what they mean? I must be receiving some validation that I am on the right track! I am anticipating the continuation of my passion, this work I build day by day, with enthusiasm and living from the heart. I know that if I anticipate the worst I won’t feel very good, it won’t serve me and it will not help the situation. It doesn’t feel good in print, to my ears, or out of my mouth.

Watch how and what you put out in thought and vibration every day, from your work and home, both in the present and directed at the future. Are you mostly lackluster, or full of hope? There’s a clever television commercial about an optimistic sunshine teaching the tired moon and gray planets how to eat a good breakfast so they can bring a little joy, color and movement into their day.

Metaphorically, it speaks volumes doesn’t it? Practice hope. Nourish your physical and emotional self with loving, positive feelings. Our thoughts are valuable, and contain divine vibration. Use them wisely and remember we are energy beings first. Remember, in this time of immense change there are great opportunities! Anticipate fantastic beginnings!

There are numerous books on the chakras. I encourage you to get to know yourself better by learning about your “energy self.”

I offer personal readings in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, and via telephone and email throughout the world. Calls within the continental United States are free. Click here for my services.
By the way, I do a lot of shifting myself!

Sometimes we find ourselves in a funk for whatever reason: a stressful day, waking up on the wrong side of bed, challenges at work or at home... Admit it--we’re all bombarded with a myriad of difficult situations every day. How we stack them up is a barometer of our feelings at any given time. More importantly, it’s a way to see what else we may be allowing into our energetic field that might be creating a tornado of chaos.

These moments are a great time to acknowledge that we feel out of sorts. They can teach us to reach for a better thought, to invite peace and harmony. We can ask ourselves how these unsettling feelings are serving our greater good.

Find your own way to shift to the positive.
Sometimes a good, deep breath will help, or a change of scenery. A walk outside or even to a different room may do the trick as well. Laughing out loud, singing, or being silly for a few minutes is wonderful medicine. It doesn’t matter how you choose to shift as long as your shift takes you to a positive place emotionally.

You may be called to shift more at various times or under stressful circumstances. It’s hard to control our fear-based selves, but with practice it will become second nature. The outcome is always a wonderful feeling of renewed strength, peace, and contentment. You’ll wonder why you didn’t use this simple technique a long time ago!
When you shift, you expand your energy field to one of joy and allowing, which in turn helps create positive energy.
There are always going to be those who say they can’t shift, or won’t. We all know people who are continually complaining about this “problem” or that “circumstance.” Knowing we have a choice in where we put our attention is a huge reminder that we alone have the power to decide whether we will walk toward the positive or live in conflict.

Once, I “shifted” myself right out of a personal appointment that was already underway! This happened quite recently, and it’s interesting that it happened as I was writing this piece. Of course I carried the guilt mightily for the rest of the day, and the next day asked myself how this guilt was serving me. I truly put the incident behind me. I grew instantly in that moment of recognition, and there was wonderful inner awareness that shifting had brought positive change. I am standing a little taller today because of it.

The bottom line is to love ourselves and honor our own path through this lifetime, no matter how hard it seems and how many times we have to pick ourselves up when we fall. Through it all, we must never think that we have lost our value. Each of us is a beautiful, loved soul.

Ready....SHIFT!

She took a picture of it and sent it to me in an email without explanation and I was taken aback because it looked rather bizarre in the shimmery cast of the evening light. When I asked her about it later, she laughed and said how strange but fun it was to see it and had she not looked down at that very moment, she would have missed it.

I went to visit her recently. A day or so after I arrived home, we were talking as we often do--me at home, she on her cell phone walking along while finishing errands. All of a sudden, she stopped abruptly and told me it had happened again in a different place. My name was written on the side of a building in shiny, gold paint and she had just happened to notice it again.

Is this a sign of some sort? I think so! The two of us have lots going on in our lives, with her imminent move to the west coast for a new position, and my work progressing nicely with referrals and a full heart as I guide clients along their soul’s journey. We talk quite often and words of wisdom flow both ways in our relationship.
What chance encounter happened to you today, or this last week, or in the last month?
It all boils down to stopping long enough throughout the day to pay attention to the signposts scattered along our path. We become aware of our surroundings, appreciate the solitude of the moment and without even realizing it, expand our awareness to allow the synchronicity of our lives to unfold.

We could ignore these small moments, but we might miss the message. This time it could have been as easy as “listen to your mother.” Or in a broader sense, perhaps she is learning some life lessons by talking to me or following my example.

What chance encounter happened to you today, or this last week, or in the last month? Your personal guidance system can come to you in so many ways. Are you able to recognize the signs so that you pay attention, enhance awareness, and be reflective? These chance encounters are never coincidental because nothing at all happens randomly. There simply is no coincidence. Our intuitive vibration will always bring in what we need, when we need it, but we must still our restless hearts and minds to notice the synchronistic moments that move us along our chosen path.

Her next phone call came in the evening. The movers had come and gone, my daughter’s flight was the following day. She was now officially making the move from one coast to the other with her starting point, Chicago, sitting in between. As she looked down to the sidewalk, there, right before her eyes was I Heart Chicago. A wonderful, synchronistic moment to bring her back to her heart center!

Now as we look back at the past few weeks, we have come into periods of growth and what feels like giant upheaval, each for different reasons, but it all certainly points to the excitement of new possibilities in our lives. We aren’t sure why she was seeing my name and her first city blazoned across her path, but we have had fun sharing the experience, and our changing horizons!

In Spirit,
Becky Hill

When we notice change and think about it (or agonize about it as the case may be), we realize we are continually evolving, changing, becoming. If we don’t embrace change, then what are our options? It seems much better to feel good, even if it requires a bit of “reorganizing”.

I try always to focus on the present moment, because the present is the only time that offers us choices. The past is over and the future, like a dream, seems to be “out there somewhere”. When the future finally arrives, it’s always in the present moment! It is much more invigorating and productive to view each moment as an opportunity to be at our best.

Personally, I allow what I call the “buffer zone”, a short time to reflect on the old story that is about to change. We all experience bumps in the road. What we require is a little time to access these issues that are turning our life inside out.

I always discover that my joy is right here with me.

In our efforts to manifest a better future, we often re-live the harsh realities of our past. But we can also review our past for the issues that brought us to this time of change -- and the message or gift that will help us transcend it.

The easiest way to usher in change is to let go of old attachments and shift to a better feeling. Just as we gather up and give away our old clothing and other clutter from our homes, we can “give away” our worries to the Universe and embrace our present life.

When facing life changes, I allow myself to heal in an embryonic cocoon for a short period of time. My cocoon is a quiet, loving space. It calls back the nurturing I received when I was a young child, or even the time before I arrived in this physical state when I was in the loving arms of Spirit. Our cells hold within them the memory of our past. While we can’t change our history, we can rearrange it -- just like we reconfigure our living space when it no longer suits us.

Even while bathed in my healing cocoon, I know that each and every moment offers choices. I may choose to weep for a small amount of time, and then to laugh. I may choose to dance, to unleash my sadness, and let my inner child play. When I do this, I feel an instant shift to something better.

I try to notice everything. When something doesn’t feel right, I choose to see it for what it is and call it out rather than turn away. I acknowledge its existence, and heal myself by letting it go. I reach for something else that feels good.

Easier said than done? Almost never, but. Joy doesn’t come from a book- or even from the ones I love -- and it doesn’t live in my past or future. Joy is right now, beginning with the love of self. Our past contains the spiritual building blocks of a better, more joyous future.

Click here to ask Rebecca a question!

Reader Question:
"My 4 year old daughter is very smart and creative, but sometimes has trouble focusing and following rules in preschool and at home. We haven’t yet found her niche, or what she really loves to do. How do we encourage her intuitiveness and creativity while still making sure she succeeds in school and other social situations?"

The first thing to understand is that your daughter is young enough to be very connected to the other side. While she may not have the words to communicate this, nonetheless she has a foothold in both places. This is a wonderful, imaginative time indeed!

I see her not following rules because she is sometimes ahead of the game. She's already thinking outside the box, and can’t understand why she has to conform to a certain set of experiences. While we do need rules in a civilized society, sometimes the "boxes" we create for our children can seem a little overwhelming.

Introduce some form of meditation or "quiet time"
before a story or rest period.

I am looking forward to the day when we treat our children as they are. Today, we take great strides to make them all fit into a certain "mold"--and when they don’t, we often think we've done something wrong. Children are not all the same emotionally and this is quite alright! I was very much like your daughter as a child, so I know children who are on a different road will find their way. There are dedicated teachers trying to change our current paradigm with some success, but we still need more innovative ideas for spirit growth. For now, this can begin at home. It looks like you are well aware of this.

I suggest you introduce some form of meditation or "quiet time" before a story or rest period. Create some good conscious breathing with closed eyes. When you notice a lack of focus in your child, or when she is having trouble following rules, ask her what she is doing or thinking. Like the old saying, “out of the mouth of babes”, she may give an answer that will astound you.

Since your daughter has a magnificent imagination, expressing herself may be a bit difficult. She just seems to need a little more attention--and has her own way of reminding others of this fact. Again, allow her to speak freely, and be attentive. Maybe she will share her thoughts and feelings through pictures, or maybe she just wants to spend a little more alone time with you. Do this with your child even when you think you are "too busy". Take her on a trip in the car to run an errand. Let her talk with no interruption, and really listen to what she has to say. This will pay off in the long term. I'm betting she has some giant wisdom there that will benefit you both!

Every child is unique and yet connected to a much bigger picture. It’s up to us to nurture their uniqueness yet continue to encourage the connection.

Reader Question:
"I live in one of the busiest and noisiest places in the world, New York City. I often have difficulty sleeping some nights due to outside distractions. How and where can I find peace and quiet in my everyday life?"

We all have moments when it is difficult to surrender our repetitive thoughts and let go of the difficult aspects of our day. This is usually a reminder to breathe, be still, and come fully into the present. Mindful breathing is crucial to your higher self. It is the one thing you can do to become more present with any distraction in your life, whether on the street, in the office, or late at night when you are restless. So breathe deeply and consciously whenever you can!

Think about the times when you were walking along in a busy spot, and totally lost yourself for a moment and forgot all that was happening around you. We often laugh at these moments--as if we were daydreaming or not paying attention--but in truth these are special times of going within and finding complete calm. Always know you can get to that perfect space from wherever you are. Just let go of the thinking that all the noise around you is "too distracting". Tell yourself instead that you are joyful and present, and that circling you is beautiful peace and tranquility.

Life is often a series of rituals. One that you can create for yourself is to make a ritual out of bedtime with soft music, a warm bath or cup of soothing tea. Let go the day's issues ahead of time with some bath salts to clear your energy field, and maybe a bit of soothing lavender essential oil. Dab the oil on a cotton ball and place it nearby so you can enjoy its fragrance and calming benefits.

While it seems that everyone in the world is rushing around you and holding their breath, you can breath into your life all the joy and beauty of the moment. Wherever you find yourself...you can also find your peace.

This Journal entry begins with the words printed on my tea bag. My tea
      	bag said: "Your
head must bow to your heart."

As a teacher, I know my sixth sense is the most important. While I honor
the other five, I know that our sixth is the biggest in the scope of
sheer power if utilized on a regular basis. Like a muscle, we can use
it or lose it. It is the most divinely connected, like an always-available
telephone line to our higher consciousness. It is always ready,
just like a trusted friend who will gladly drop everything when you call.

I also know that the heart center is our largest energy center. Vibrationally,
it is natural to come out of our heads and into our hearts. But most
of us stay locked in our heads, analyzing, thinking, moving along as
society tells us we must. Now don’t get me wrong. We’re here
in Earth School now and we all get stuck in our ego or fear based selves
more often than we like to admit.

I have a hunch, a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach...
hello sixth sensory vibrations!

Here are a few examples to help open yourself
      	to your Divine gifts:

Be Present. Yesterday is over and tomorrow isn’t here yet. In
all you do in every moment- be there! Savor it, breathe into it, acknowledge
it and make the most of it. No matter what you are doing, do it with
      	presence.

Breathe. But I am, you say! Consciously paying attention to your breath
several times each day helps us to connect to our sixth sense. I find
it to be an instant stabilizer. Whether happy, sad, furious, anxious,
nervous, elated, it’s fun to breathe deeply and see what happens,
      	feel the shift.

Meditate. You do not have to set aside a long period of time each
day. You would be amazed at what a mere 5 minutes can do. I’d be
willing to bet 5 minutes will be very healing and will lead to another
5 minutes and so on. Before you know it, you will realize that you do
feel better when you recharge by connecting to your higher self.

Pay Attention. My teacher, Sonia Choquette, defines the
subtleties of Divine energy: What am I feeling? How does this
circumstance make me feel? What is my heart saying? What is making me
feel tired, worn out, sick, or excited, happy, carefree, and fulfilled?
I have a hunch, a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach, a light bulb
moment, a chance encounter…hello sixth sensory vibrations!

So there you have it! The beginning of your journey into six sensory
living is quite easy and simple...exactly the way Divine Spirit always
intended it to be. I guarantee that if you start with these simple practices,
you will notice a shift in the way that you look at your life.

While the above may seem too easy,
I beg to differ. This is the foundation of your true self. Focusing
our inner camera lens to help us establish a relationship with
our higher consciousness. Everyone’s path may be a little different,
but we are all ultimately headed in the same direction.

      Begin your journey!

Reader Question:
"Food, shelter, happiness and love are the necessities of a healthy life. But oddly, money is what most wish for. What would happen if we wished directly for what we want?"

Great question! We are very much a society that feels we should “see” something to believe it, aren’t we? When we have money, we surely must have everything. We wear it like a badge of honor. This makes me remember the old saying, “Whoever has the most toys wins.”

Through the centuries, we gradually forgot our inner world and nurtured only the physical aspects of ourselves. The ones we can see, feel, and touch. Almost as if we were masking our true identity with “stuff.” The paper became important because we made it so. Since we all needed to be alike, we “perfected” our lives with it.

Now we are seeing the crack in all of this, aren’t we? This crack is now a chasm and many are falling in...or hanging on and slowly redefining their lives. We absolutely can wish directly for what we want. Many speakers, books and movies are showing us this. Not to mention that many are hearing it themselves, but dismissing any inner wisdom as “phooey.”

Remember that there is no coincidence. We truly are on a guided journey, but some are simply too engrossed with fear to know what they are capable of doing with thought and desire.

However, let’s not make money the evil here, for it is truly not the culprit. The culprit is losing our way and now coming back to the basics that you speak of: food, shelter, happiness, and love. It reminds me of throwing a bucket of cold water on someone who is in a stupor to wake them up and clear their head! We all could use a little of that cold water over us now, couldn’t we?

Reader Question:
"What can I do to find the right guy? What am I doing that I keep attracting the wrong people into my life?"

What I see is that you don’t feel good enough about yourself. You are settling for the exact picture of what you don’t want. You've been attracting partners with attitude, problems, and lots of excess baggage.

Somewhere along your journey, you have come to believe that you are not deserving of that special companion because you feel you have been given too much already. When you focus on what you think you deserve, you ultimately bring that into your consciousness.

You’ve grown in your work and your ability to care for others, but when it comes to your perceptions about yourself, you sell yourself short. You’ve had times when you knew that something wasn’t working, right from the get-go. Yet you talked yourself into another bad relationship instead of heeding the warning signals you received.

Start by looking inside. Look to your soul self and your inner wisdom and beauty. Your thinking has been that you will never find Mr. Right. You’ve even verbalized this to your friends! Stop that, and shift your vibration to one of “knowing” that the perfect person for you is here now. Visualize everything about him, or better yet, write it down. Let go of the part of yourself that is being used and give it to the Universe. In return, ask for the help you need to bring in your new vision.

Today is the day you can stop this same old song and begin a new chapter!

We’re in such an exciting time! Do you feel it? Change is upon us,
and is long overdue. We have a new President about to take office, not
coincidentally at a time when major shifts are occurring in our
culture, economy, and spiritual awareness.

Those who are aware and awake predicted all of this. The old paradigms we've lived by for centuries just aren’t working anymore.
So here we are on the brink of a new beginning. A global rebirth that has been in the works for a very, very long time.

Yesterday is over, tomorrow is upon us...
join the shift toward something better.

All
forms of Awakening teach the same things, and resonate with each person
individually. In numerology, Inauguration Day occurs at a pivotal
moment. January 20, 2009 is a #5 day, which signals change. Numerology
is another way to see the synchronicity of the healing and spiritual
traditions that I have been blessed to study. All of the numbers
surrounding this period of change are extremely powerful, signaling
major shifts in our thinking and spiritual awareness.

Rather
than get our shorts in a knot, let's just breathe into this new time
with a willingness to open our hearts to the endless possibilities that
await us. With opened hearts, we can spread the joy of consciousness
throughout the Universe. With opened hearts, we may find ourselves
seeing things coming together, not falling apart.

Get back to basics!
Acceptance, cooperation, dialogue, openness, giving – all these
energies lead to personal peace, love, joy and fulfillment. Have we
spent too much time being “against” other ideologies, visions, ways of
life and living? Why not honor our differences, and at the same time,
see our sameness? It may no longer be “my way or the highway,” but
rather, "your way is not my way but that’s okay."

There
will be those who will continue encouraging unhappiness and apartness,
but that doesn’t mean you and I have to be left behind with their
“stuff.” Let’s use this special time to slow down, become aware, heal,
and move forward.

Yesterday is over, tomorrow is upon us, and this has always been the case! So be here now and feel good about it – and join the shift toward something better.

You’restarting to question many of your choices, such as the choice of yourmajor. You wonder if you are headed in the right direction. But neverfear--it’s been a tremendous growth period and you will ultimately wearmany hats. Your pick of a major is okay. You will use what you learnedto reap additional rewards in other areas.

You had a tendency to separateyourself from others even as you were in the thick of them! Sort oflike being there without being there.

new eyes--our soul eyes. They are located in two places: our divinely
spiritual third eye, centered on the forehead just above our eyes, and

In my heart, I feel that we don’t need to come together factually, we need to come together vibrationally.

For
the good of one and all, we must journey beyond excessive thinking and
move into our heart. Oh, you say, isn’t my brain in my head and isn’t
that where my decisions come from? Yes, it can be difficult to leave
the logical world and enter the space of feeling and emotion. But when
we live too much in our head, we bypass our true nature and our
authentic selves. We obsess about the facts and our choices. Often,
going against the common view just to be "right"--or following the logic
of others to fight against the opposition–is all we seem capable of
doing.

Heartfully spread
the feelings of Hope, Peace, Acceptance and Harmony. Change

During this campaign season, have you noticed the
words "fight against" over and over? I understand how ingrained this
phrase is in our world. Both candidates are using it. But whatever the
issues may be, we will keep turning our wheels until we stop saying
"fight against" and start using the term “heal.”

Settling
into our healing heart is not extraordinary. Your heart is where the
common good of all patiently resides. Our soul self is always waiting
quietly for us to turn our attention inward.

When the time
comes, vote with your whole being--your thoughts, feelings, and
emotions–and let your vote come from your heart in its purest form.
Give yourself some breathing space...and let’s give all the candidates
breathing space, too. Be “for” rather than “against.” Heartfully spread
the feelings of Hope, Peace, Acceptance and Harmony. Let’s start right
now, exercising our healing selves, and we will make guided, limitless choices.

Change
is imminent. It’s going to happen because it's time for it to happen.

My husband and I recently brought a new dog into our lives from a
local shelter. We weren’t really looking seriously, but we went out a
couple of times to investigate. It was a tough decision because we had
become used to our freedom. What happens, both for us and the dog, if
we get a really tough dog to handle, or if we have issues with training
and adapting?

I called on all of our past dogs for help in
the matter: "Please help us find a good dog, preferably small, no
shedding, and obedient. When the time is right, let us know." Little
did I know that soon after I put out the request we would find our
dog!

When it's time for something new, put it "out there." Be specific, be clear, and believe. It may take time, but it will come.

Actually, first we found an older dog that was fully trained. He was very big and furry, but a dog we could help with some
quality time at the end of his days. However, the day that we were going to
have a look I listened to my intuition and felt that
calling the shelter first would be wise. Good thing, because he had
already been adopted, and it saved us the time and trip. I told my
husband the news: sadly, this wasn’t the time. He suggested we go out
anyway to have another look. We both figured we could get some ideas,
but certainly didn’t want to make a hasty decision.

So off
we went to find a shelter we had tried to locate once before, at the
end of a long day with no directions. This time we found it, and then
we found our dog! Kenzie was the only dog in the book that we asked to
look at, and the only one we saw. We were both quiet, but something was
pulling us to this dog. Sweet, quiet, well mannered, definitely not a small dog, and definitely a shedder!

With Kenzie came a huge
commitment, as she was incredibly sick with bacterial pneumonia that
the shelter didn’t know about because they had her for only a week, and
she had been transported some distance. When we took her home, we
discovered how sick Kenzie was within the first 24 hours. No wonder she
was so quiet! Even with our seriously limited funds, we just knew that
we had to help. We could not leave her or take her back. She almost
didn’t live, but now she's thriving, rambunctious, interested, and
smart. There is hair EVERYWHERE. Normally I would be having allergies,
but I asked for some help with this, too. Funny, Kenzie doesn’t
seem to bother them. We are all adapting, and we think she is pretty darn happy.

We
thank our past dogs Dugen, Dixie, Piper and Mandy for their help in
bringing us this new bundle of enthusiasm! (Even though the fur is
flying and she is bigger rather than small.) We thank them for this
good dog, because she is very smart and loving. Kenzie is a lot of
work, but because of her, I am walking more than 10 miles each week.
Because of her, I can go out in the early morning and be connected to
nature. Because of her, my husband can be the dog whisperer once again.
Because of her, my husband and I have something new to talk about,
laugh about, and we are reminded that reaching out heals the heart.

So
when it is time for something new, put it “out there.” Be specific, be
positive, be clear, and believe. It may take time, but it will come.
Remember that when we put it “out there”, and add in our negative
“stuff”, it just doesn’t seem to materialize the way we want. Feel-good emotion allows the Law of Attraction to do its work!

I notice many people with a cell phone attached to their ear as they are walking down the street. Cell phone usage in stores, on mass transit, in cars, and many people who keep their blackberry on, even when they sleep, are all indicators that we are definitely losing the big picture. I often see the same woman walking for exercise, and every time she is talking on her phone. Children of all ages are sending text messages all day long and playing on the computer a good portion of the evening.

I happen to like my cell phone. When I am waiting for an important call I can be available, or when someone in my family is running late or has a change of plans it is a great convenience. However, more often than not when I am out, I leave my phone in the car. That way I can be fully present for what I intended to do in the first place.

Practice conscious breathing as you sit at a traffic light,
walk down the hall, wait for the bus, or ride the elevator.

Clients come to me for answers and their biggest complaint is that there isn’t enough time in the day. They feel rushed, unhappy and can’t seem to find what they are searching for in the “grand scheme of things.” Remember that phrase? They want something more but just don’t have the time to figure it out. They want out of the “day to day grind.” This is another catchy phrase isn’t it? There are so many of us looking elsewhere for our happiness and comfort instead of turning inside.

Here’s a tip. Start out by finding five minutes a day to just sit. Breathe. Feel the rhythmic flow as you inhale and exhale. Turn off the phone and television, step away from your desk, and ask that you be left alone for a short time. Maybe you won’t even have to leave your desk. Just find a quiet spot and breathe. Be creative, you can find a spot! Let your thoughts go. As you start to think, acknowledge it as ah, yes, I am thinking again, and then move back to your breath. Practice conscious breathing as you sit at a traffic light, walk down the hall, wait for the bus, or ride the elevator.

For those of you who consider this a challenge and can’t possibly find the time, I say--and so it is. But those who are ready for that something they can’t quite put their finger on, (like peace, serenity, well being and the answers to their questions) will with practice, experience a shift. That shift is the beginning of your consciousness, your true and beautiful self, the innermost perfect being that you are meant to be each and every day. Stop long enough every chance you get, to just be, without yesterday’s problems or tomorrow’s worries getting in the way. I know you will love this new level of awareness.

Let this be your beginning!

Click here to ask Rebecca a question!

Reader Question:
"What is the best way to spark changes in a relationship, be it marriage, friendship, or parent/child?"

The very best way is to “see” the change. Pivot your viewpoint and see only joy and contentment. View these relationships exactly as you would like them to be--as if it is already happening.

Make a list. What is it you desire? List these desires in a positive way and put the list away. More often than not, we are habitual creators of the very things we don’t want. Flip the switch when you catch yourself doing this and play it out differently as if you are writing your own outcome.

Begin to see others as soul beings, here for just a little while, learning and growing. When we look into people instead of “at” them, we shift our vibration. As our vibration changes, our circumstances change, too. This is the energy field at its best!

Your personal nature is one of joy. You need to remember this and try not to get so wrapped up in anyone else’s stuff. For the most part you stay centered, but every once in a while you slip into a scenario that really isn’t you. Realize this and shift. As you are able to acknowledge the times that get to you and shift to a better feeling, it will become second nature to you. You’ll actually be sparking a change in yourself that will affect everyone around you.

On another note, don’t forget to be still. No radio, television, cell phone, blackberry or anything for a period of time each day. Be present for each task and quit thinking about the myriad other things you have to do! It will all get done in due time. Turn your thinking off. This will spark change and you will be noticeably different to others. When you are more centered, it shows!
